ABOUT

KALANBIO is a Mexican civil association registered in Mérida, Yucatán, but with incidence on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea; from Tamaulipas to Quintana Roo.

Our purpose is to contribute to the preservation, mitigation and/or restoration of the ecosystem services of our seas and coasts, as well as the conservation of their biodiversity, for the benefit of ecosystems and society.

In addition, we seek to encourage and increase citizen participation, either by training as citizen scientists and/or community monitors or by facilitating environmental activism focused on education and awareness of society.

Likewise, we recognize the value of the synergies generated from strategic alliances, which is why we link with academic and government institutions, as well as with other ONG's.

"The sea, the great unifier, is man's only hope. Now, as never before, the old phrase has a literal meaning: We are all in the same boat."

OUR VISION

We aspire to the preservation of marine, coastal and freshwater ecosystems, where biodiversity and ecosystem services are protected for the benefit of our and future generations, who participate more actively in their protection and restoration.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to research, design, and implement ecological solutions focused on contributing to the conservation of diversity and the restoration of marine, coastal and freshwater ecosystems and thus ensure the sustainability of biotic and ecosystem resources.

Through our strategic alliances with academic institutions, we collaborate in different scientific research projects related to coastal marine biodiversity, as well as cenotes.

Through these investigations, we develop strategic information to solve problems related to mitigation or environmental restoration, as well as biodiversity conservation strategies.
